Which still holds, within its walls, the magic of the Golden Age of the Florentine Renaissance. If we were suddenly catapulted into that ancient time, the renowned Michelangelo Buonarroti would be our neighbour. Looking out of the window, we could have a chat with him about his latest work of art, perhaps the magnificent David. In fact, it is precisely in the building next to Hotel Santa Croce that Michelangelo spent his childhood years (there is a plaque showing evidence of this on the wall of the first floor) and this is the fundamental reason why the street, Via De’ Bentaccordi, is trodden by visitors from every corner of the globe.
